Azpilicueta ‘reacts’ to VAR decision after Lo Celso’s stamp on his leg

Cesar Azpilicueta is lucky not to have broken his leg after Tottenham player Giovani Lo Celso clearly stamped his feet on Azpilicueta.

The incident wasn’t seen by the centre referee Michael Oliver and was reviewed by the VAR, and surprisingly, the VAR officials didn’t deem it enough to earn Lo Celso a red card.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta was surprised at the VAR decision and clearly believes that Lo Celso should have been given his marching orders.

Azpilicueta said after the game:

“I’m not a player who likes to be on the floor. I am tough. But it was a clear stamp on my shin, I felt it straight away and was surprised it wasn’t a red card.

“It wasn’t even a yellow card! Everybody can make a mistake but when you have a lot of replays it should be easier.”

The Chelsea skipper had an ice pack taped to his leg at the end of the game.
