Barcelona contact Chelsea to pay €100million for World-class attacker

Spanish giants Barcelona are open to selling Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong to Chelsea for €100million, according to a report on Daily Mail.

In 2022, it seemed almost certain that the Dutch international would transfer to Manchester United after the Premier League team made a £70 million offer. However, De Jong chose to remain with the LaLiga side instead.

However, amid escalating dissatisfaction with both on-field and off-field problems, the 26-year-old is now said to be receptive to the idea of making a move.

Manchester United reportedly remain interested in signing De Jong from Barcelona but now face competition from Chelsea. Both sides have now been informed of Barcelona’s asking price for De Jong.

De Jong himself recently insisted that he’s ‘very satisfied’ at Barcelona but also refused to rule out a potential move in the future.

While speaking to Dutch outlet NOS about his current situation, and when asked about a possible move to another league, he replied: “Possibly. But I’m very satisfied at Barca. It’s always difficult to say. For now I feel good here.

He added: “I am in the club where I always wanted to be, where I dreamed.”

De Jong has made 16 starts for Barcelona this season, scoring just once – with an ankle injury keeping him out for two months of the campaign.

Meanwhile, AC Milan winger, Rafael Leao is now ready to move to another club and league, after spending the last five years with Milan.

This is according to a new report from Foot Mercato, who claims that Leao believes he has reached the end of his cycle with his current employers, and wants to now move to either the Premier League or the La Liga.

If the 24-year-old does decide to move to England next, Chelsea may be tempted to make a swoop for him, having previously been linked with an interest in the Portugal International some years ago.

If this happens, it might also spell danger for Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, who have struggled to live up to their reputations over the past two seasons. This is especially true for the Ukrainian, who has now been relegated to being a substitute player as a result of his inconsistency.
