Batshuayi: ‘I wants to stay at Chelsea’ despite AS Roma interest

Michy Batshuayi is intent on staying and fighting for the starting XI at Chelsea, despite concrete interest from Serie A side AS Roma. This is according to a reputable Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur.

It was reported this week that Man United’s Alexis Sanchez was the primary target for the Gialorossi. However, as Roma struggled to secure a deal for the Chilean due to his £505,000-a-week wages, the Italians turned their attention to Chelsea man as a cheaper alternative instead.

Following that story, Terreur reports: “Various clubs have enquired about Michy Batshuayi, and AS Roma was one of them, but the player is still focused on fighting for his place at Chelsea and willing to stay. Frank Lampard wants to retain his three strikers.”

Lampard seemingly regards Michy as his 3rd player in the striker position currently, despite some impressive performances during the pre-season.

On Sunday against United, Batshuayi didn’t feature in the matchday squad.

Versus Liverpool, the Belgian remained on the bench for the entirety of the 120 minutes-long game.
