Bayern Munch star reacts to Chelsea transfer rumours ahead of possible January move
Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has admitted that he has been left “surprised” by the rumours linking him with a switch to Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 32-year-old centre-back has spent the last nine years with German champions, playing 350 games in all competitions, winning eight Bundesliga trophies and two Champions League tittles in the process.
The Germany international’s current deal at the Allianz Arena will end next summer, though, and there have been rumours that he could seek pastures new.
Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal ave recently been credited with an interest, however, the experienced centre-back has insisted that he has not intention about departing from the defending European champions.
“Nobody approached me, nobody spoke to me, I didn’t know anything about it, I was surprised,” Boateng told Suddeutsche Zeitung.
The ex-Hertha Berlin defender represented Manchester City during the 2010-11 season, playing 24 games for the Citizens, winning the FA Cup during his only season at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal and Chelsea both are in danger to lose Shkordan Mustafi and Antonio Rudiger respectively as both of them linked with a switch to Barcelona and signing quality player like Jerome Boateng could help London giants to increase their depth in the squad.
