‘Before kick-off’: Tuchel reacts to Roman Abramovich’s decision to sell Chelsea
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel gave an overwhelmingly positive response to his side’s performance in their 3-2 FA Cup win over Luton Town on Wednesday evening after the earlier news that Roman Abramovich was to sell the club.
When asked about his reaction to Roman Abramovich selling Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel said after the Luton Town win: “Maybe I heard it a little bit earlier than you, but it was still close to kick-off.
“We heard the rumours all day and when we had team meetings and we all talked about it. It is big news, we wait and see and hope for the best.
“I think every decision he takes is the right decision. It is his choice and club. That’s not on me to comment. It’s big news, a bit too early for me to speak. I did not sink in yet. It’s a massive change of course.
“We did not talk it. We accepted it. They have internet connections and watched TV. We focused the preparing only on sports. I don’t think I have to talk about it. I don’t know maybe as much as you think.
“Some guys are detached from it and some are not. It is normal, to play on a day like today is not easy and makes me happier about today.”
Abramovich has confirmed that he plans on selling Chelsea and won’t ask for the £1.5bn loan he gave to the club.
He is reportedly asking for about £2bn-£4bn to sell Chelsea, with investors from USA and Switzerland showing interest.
