There has been some big news in the media over the past 24 hours as it has been claimed Chelsea have agreed a £50million deal for RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.
Werner has been one of the most talked about players of the past few weeks, as all the major clubs are reportedly interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for the pacy little German star.
He has scored 75 goals in 122 matches since making his RB Leipzig debut in 2013. Only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (29) has netted more Bundesliga goals than Werner (25) this season.
The report claims The striker looks set to sign a five-year contract after Frank Lampard made it clear he is ready to meet the German’s release clause, and Werner will pocket around £175,000-a-week, making him one of Chelsea’s top earners.
The Germany international has a £53million release clause in his contract which expires in less than a fortnight and Chelsea are expected to pay the full fee.
Lampard’s men have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax in a £37m deal as he looks to build a side that is more than capable of challenging for that Premier League title next season.
He has the quality and goals to send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League, and will most certainly add some more quality to a very attacking Chelsea side. As we said, it will be some great business if the reports are true guys.
