Chelsea close in on superstar after he confirms exit, Brazilian admits he was close to Chelsea move, Chelsea told to sign £135 million man

Chelsea should make an offer to sign David Alaba after he confirmed that he was leaving Bayern Munich in the summer.

Alaba is regarded as one of the very best left-backs in world football right now and has wo countless trophies at the German outfit, with nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns on his CV.

He, has played a central role during one of the most successful periods in Bayern’s history, helping the club win a total of 24 major trophies under six different managers, but he has now opened up and revealed that he will be leaving the club in the summer window.

Alaba told reporters on Tuesday: “It was not an easy decision. I have been here for 13 years and the association is really close to my heart. I am very grateful to the association for many things.

“I took my time because it’s not an easy decision to make overnight. I decided to do something new – a new challenge. I haven’t made the decision yet (on my new club), that remains to be seen.

“It’s no secret that my management is in contact with several clubs. But a lot is being read into it and I want to concentrate fully on my task here.

“Money has not been a factor in my decision.”

Brazilian icon Roberto Carlos has revealed that he was very close to signing for Chelsea back in 2007.

The left-back, who is regarded as one of the finest left-back to ever grace the game, had just left Real Madrid at the time, was on the hunt for a new club and was open to the idea of sealing a move to the Premier League.

And after emerging as favourites to bring the club to England, we quickly swooped in to try and secure a transfer deal for the Brazilian superstar, and looked all set to make an announcement.

However, the deal did not go through in the end, and now Carlos has revealed why, admitting that there was an issue with the lawyer as the deal to make the move to the Premier League was 100 per cent agreed.

The former Brazilian international, as quoted by the Daily Mail, said “With Chelsea, it got very close. It was literally agreed and I just had to go there and sign the contract.”

“There was an issue with the lawyer; it was all agreed, though, and I am 100 per cent sure I would have done well in the Premier League.”

Carlos in the Premier League would have been something special to see, he really is one of the very best left-backs ever to grace the game and a player that would have sold alot of tickets for the club.

Paul Merson has told Chelsea they need to beat Manchester City to the signature of Erling Haaland in order to win back that Premier League title

The hierarchy are already planning for next season and beyond and it is thought they could make a concerted pursuit to sign Haaland from Dortmund, as the 20-year-old Norwegian striker, who has 22 goals and six assists in 22 games this season, is available for around £135m in the summer.

We want an elite-level striker to lead their attack and see Haaland as the ideal and complete frontman to do so, but will surely face paying £100m or more to sign him this year.

And amid the speculation, Merson says he believes it is the Stamford Bridge outfit who most need a player of Haaland’s calibre, He wrote for the DAILY STAR: “Of all the teams who are in for Erling Haaland, Chelsea are the ones who need him most.

“They have always been successful with someone who has a presence up front and Haaland has that. He’s going to score bundles wherever he goes.

“And if you buy him this summer, you still have the prospect of being able to sell him for a profit later down the line because of his age.

“I’m not sure he’s such a good fit for Manchester City, where he probably wouldn’t play as much.

“But for whoever gets him, it will be worth it. He puts up numbers and he keeps on doing it. Whoever signs him will have a chance of winning the league.”

We have said it before and we will say it again, Haaland is the type of statement signing that many clubs in the Premier League would fear, he really is that good of a player.
