Blues linked with €50m-rated world-class attacker again as player wants Premier league move
According to reports, Chelsea were the closest to signing former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho last summer.
Barcelona were keen to offload the Brazilian international, and Chelsea held talks with his agent, according to a report from the paper-version of Sport, which is cited and added to by The Sunday World.
The report mentions Chelsea’s name alongside a potential summer move for Coutinho, citing Thomas Tuchel being handed a ‘huge transfer war chest’ this summer, and also stating the fact that the Premier League will be the likely destination for the 28-year old.
This is of course purely speculation, and there is nothing to suggest that Chelsea will be making any direct moves to sign Coutinho this summer, despite the links from last year.
The Blues since signed the likes of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner in attacking areas, and seem to prefer a younger more up and coming player to a Coutinho-type.
