Blues to try again – Romano confirms Chelsea to table new offer for 154 goal attacker after first bid was rejected

According to trade expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is anticipated to submit a second offer for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.

According to reports, the Blues made an initial offer of €25 million (£21 million) plus add-ons for the England international, but Romano predicts a better offer will be made once Romelu Lukaku has formally committed to returning to Inter Milan:

Chelsea has communicated with middlemen to examine the transaction. Man City clearly did not accept their initial offer of £25 million plus bonuses. City wants much more for Sterling because they want a package worth between €100 and €110 million for Gabriel and Sterling together. Sterling would be open to joining Chelsea, though, according to what I was informed, and they are willing to let him leave.

“As a result, a deal is probably feasible. Once Romelu Lukaku’s likely sale to Inter is finalized, I anticipate Chelsea to make another attempt. You only need to report it. Sterling can therefore definitely work for Chelsea.

Prior to players like Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona and Raphinha of Leeds, Sterling is thought to be Thomas Tuchel’s top choice to bolster his attacking line.

We’ll see whether Chelsea decides to meet City’s demands for the 27-year-old, who has 154 goals in his professional career and one year left on his contract.

The Blues will need to substantially improve on their initial offer if they want to recruit the former Liverpool star this summer since, as Romano points out, they are aiming to sell Sterling for roughly €50 million (£43 million).
