Brand new Chelsea signing tells fans why he decided to complete monster move
New Chelsea acquisition Kalidou Koulibaly has explained his decision to sign with the Blues for the summer transfer window.
Koulibaly has recently been associated with the Premier League, but Napoli has never been interested in offloading one of the best defenders in the world of football at the moment.
However, Chelsea was able to step in and reach an agreement with the Italians for £40 million, which was a true summer bargain. His contract was set to expire at the conclusion of next season.
When the Blues again contacted him this summer, Koulibaly did not even hesitate to accept, but he has not spoken out about it: “I spent eight years in Naples. Everyone there knew me, and we enjoyed living there,” he remarked.
“After eight years, I felt it was time for a new challenge and as soon as Chelsea called, I didn’t hesitate.
“It almost happened before in 2016 but now, in 2022, I’m delighted to be here.”
However, Koulibaly established himself as one of the very best central defenders in Italian football – impressed in the Champions League and is one of the best in the game right now
But the Premier League will be his toughest test yet as it has made even the superstar players look ordinary – he needs to not underestimate the quality of the English game
We do believe that he will be a massive signing for the club and that Chelsea have done some wonderful business – but the Premier League is not the Italian League – every game he needs to give 100 per cent
