Brazilian centre-back linked with shock move to Chelsea
According to Eurosport, Chelsea could rekindle their interest in the Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.
The German tactician appointed as Chelsea’s new head coach after Frank Lampard was sacked by the Blues.
Thomas’ appointment will mark the start of a new era, based on fresh ideas, which could require new faces to be recruited.
Eurosport suggest that the Brazil international could be one of them, with the west Londoners previously being interested in landing him and Tuchel considering Marquinhos one of his most important players at the Parc des Princes outfit.
The Parisians will no doubt be reluctant to sell, but if the price is reasonable, and the former Roma youngster was to be keen on a reunion with his former coach, there’s nothing to say it could not happen.
Meantime, Chelsea will allegedly grant Thomas Tuchel the funds to make the Norwegian ace Erling Haaland a marquee signing at the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer.
The Borussia Dortmund striker – who has 37 goals in 37 matches for Borussia Dortmund – was a target of the Blues under Frank Lampard and the Daily Mail claim their interest has not wavered in spite of the change of manager.
They will likely face stiff competition from domestic rivals Manchester United and Manchester City for the ace’s signature, as well as a host of other top European suitors.
