BREAKING: Another Chelsea man leaves club after 11 years
According to an exclusive from David Ornstein tonight, Chelsea head of recruitment Scott McLachlan has left the club,
However, The chief scout was the last remaining core piece of the club’s recruitment operation, and has been in place for 11 years.
Ornstein says he goes “on his own terms” to take up an executive level role at another club. He is on gardening leave for three months, and it will be very interesting to see where he ends up.
A controversial figure with fans, he’s taken a share of the blame for our bad signings over the years. As always, it’s hard to know what blame he actually deserves.
With Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia leaving some time ago, there’s now been total turnover upstairs at Chelsea, and a director of football has to be the priority for the next few months.
It remains to be seen how good this summer window actually was, and there are certainly plenty of holes still to be filled long term.
