Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella faces up to three months out after undergoing surgery.
However, The Chelsea full-back suffered an ankle injury during the 2-0 defeat to Everton and following initial assessments, it was determined, via advice from foot and ankle specialists, that he needed to go under the knife.
The 25-year-old full-back, who is anticipated to be out until February now, confirmed his surgery on Instagram on Saturday.
Cucurella’s absence on Saturday did not prove costly, as Chelsea were able to beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Levi Colwill started in the left-back position and will be expected to remain there after the injuries to both Cucurella and Ben Chilwell.
