Breaking: Chelsea FC agree to release Maurizio Sarri, 40-year-old favourite to become next Blues manager

Chelsea FC have reportedly agreed to part ways with Maurizio Sarri with Juventus managing to negotiate a suitable compensation package for the Italian head coach.

The Bianconeri had been in discussions with Sarri’s entourage prior to the Europa League final against Arsenal and it now appears that they have made progress towards his signature.

According to Sportitalia via Sport Bible, the 60-year-old looks on course to leave the west London side, who have agreed to release him from his existing deal – due to expire in June 2021.

Sarri’s position with the Blues has experienced a see-saw ride over the course of the season but he has won over a major section of the fans after guiding the team to a top-four finish and Europa League success.

Still, the board don’t seem desperate to keep him amid the approach from the Bianconeri and some sources suggest that club legend Frank Lampard is the favourite to succeed the Italian at the helm.

Lampard recently experienced an impressive debut season in management with Derby County and he almost guided them to the Premier League through the Championship play-off final.

He may not have any experience when it comes to management in the top-flight but he is widely regarded as the outright favourite to takeover the managerial hot seat after Sarri’s departure.
