BREAKING: Date set for Chelsea’s Champions League return leg against Bayern Munich

If you’d told us back in January that Chelsea would lose the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie with Bayern Munich 3-0, we would have been disappointed but not shocked.

What would truly have stunned us would have been the idea that the return leg wouldn’t be played until the 8th of August.

At the time such a gap would have looked inexplicable, but now the 8th August looks almost ambitious.

The Sun report on the full plan, which sees would see the Blues play out their (likely) one remaining game in late summer, potentially just after having hammered out their remaining 9 Premier League games in late June and July.

It may be that those games are pushed back too by the ongoing situation – fortunately we likely just have this one off game to worry about before we start thinking about next season. Some sides will have major congestion from whenever this season restarts until potentially next year.
