Chelsea set to welcome Man City to Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening and Pep Guardiola has one major selection problem on his hands ahead of kick-off, One City player who will miss the game is Sergio Aguero.
The striker limped out of City’s 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night shortly before half-time and it has since been confirmed that he is to undergo surgery in Barcelona.
“Tomorrow we will do a surgery in Barcelona with Dr Cugat,” Guardiola told reporters. “After that we don’t know when he will come back and join us.
“After the surgery [we will know more]. He will tell us with more accuracy when he can come back.”
Meanwhile, Aguero joins Claudio Bravo, Eric Garcia and John Stones on the sidelines as the quartet will watch events from west London unfold from home.
“He is on the pitch training and getting better,” Guardiola said of Stones.
“Hopefully in the next few days he can play in the team.”
