BREAKING: Premier League makes fresh Mike Dean decision after REGRETS on Romero’s hair-pull on Cucurella
When Cristian Romero pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair during Sunday’s fierce Stamford Bridge match, Mike Dean said he later regretted not sending referee Anthony Taylor to his pitch-side monitor.
However, For the first time in Premier League history, an official has come forward after taking part in a match. Dean wrote in his MailPlus column that he didn’t think Romero tugging Cucurella’s hair was aggressive given the few time he got to observe it.
Mike Dean said: ‘I’ve since studied the footage, spoken to other referees and, upon reflection, I should have asked Taylor to visit his pitch-side monitor to take a look for himself. The referee on field always has the final say.’
Meanwhile, Premier League has made decision on Mike Dean drastic decision on the game.
Mike Dean has been removed from Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties for this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures.
This follows several controversial decisions during the 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Premier League have decided to involve referee Anthony Taylor for this Game Week.
However, Dean has seemingly been taken off VAR duties, as he is not listed for any of the matches this weekend, though it is not clear as to why.
