BREAKING: Premier League postponed more games after latest development

Following latest COVID-19 issues, the Premier League had confirmed that five league matches scheduled for the weekend will not hold anymore.

While many teams are struggling with the coronavirus outbreak, the Premier League also revealed that not all games will be called off.

The Premier League have made the decision to postpone several matches this week as the highly contagious Omicron variant threatens to disrupt the game.

Saturday’s Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Burnley is the latest fixture to be called off due to rising Covid cases, and the only Saturday game that’ll take place is the match between Leeds United and Arsenal.

Three Premier League fixtures are currently set to take place on Sunday. Newcastle United vs Manchester City, Wolves vs Chelsea and Tottenham vs Liverpool.

The English Football League has also confirmed 19 games this weekend have been postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks at clubs.

As it stands, Chelsea’s trip to the Molineux would go on, even though Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has bemoaned the lack of players in his side at the moment.
