Meanwhile, Consortiums headed by Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton and Stephen Pagliuca are the bidders left, with the Ricketts family having also withdrawn their bid.

The three current bidders are awaiting more developments over the coming days, but Sky News have confirmed a twist in the deal.

According to reports, the three bidders have been told that they should not look to sell the club – and it’s part of the clause involved in taking over ownership of Chelsea FC.

The report claims that the move has been taken to secure the stability and continuity of Chelsea, as they bid to remain at the top, both in the Premier League and Europe’s elite level.

It is believed that this new proposal could lead to a further complication, with Raine Group wanting guarantees that Chelsea will not be put back on the market in the short term.
