Bundesliga centre-back could become Chelsea player in January
Chelsea are interested in landing David Alaba and an offer could come as early as January.
The Bayern Munich star is having contract troubles with his current side with his deal set to expire in the summer.
Marina Granovskaia is ready to tempt the UCL winners with an offer in the winter window as Frank Lampard eyes defensive reinforcements.
Chelsea director Granovskaia is preparing a bid for the Austrian star in the January transfer window.
It comes as the defender continues to wrangle over contract details with Die Roten.
The Bavarians told David that they had taken their contract proposal off the table after he and his agents took too long to respond.
It means as it stands, the star will be leaving Munich at the end of the season with his contract set to expire next summer.
Bayern are adamant that it does not mean talks cannot be reopened but with both parties thus far apart on an agreement, it remains to be seen whether either side will compromise.
And it has led to interested sides taking a closer look, with the Bundesliga champions unlikely to want to let one of their key players leave for nothing.
Chelsea are one such club, with AS stating that Granovskaia is readying a bid for January – with the January transfer window opening next month.
Alaba is a brilliantly versatile player and is able to play in midfield, at left-back and centre-back. At just 28, he is in his prime and would improve what is quickly becoming a strong roster at Stamford Bridge as Frank looks to build on his early-season momentum.
Several other clubs have been linked with the Bayern man, including Liverpool and Arsenal, but AS report that it is the Blues that are the frontrunners.
