Burnley set to sign Drinkwater in late bid

Burnley set to sign Drinkwater in late bid.

Burnley have made a bid on Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, British outlet Daily Mail reports. However, it is not revealed how much exactly they are willing to spend on the player.

The Blues are allegedly eager to see the midfielder move on. However, he has a homegrown player status that is valuable for UEFA competitions. This is reportedly the only thing that keeps Drinkwater afloat at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s Burnley want to add depth and experience to their squad. They have already brought in several players this summer – the £10m signing of striker Jay Rodriguez was the most prominent deal.

According to the Standard, The Blues are struggling to offload Danny Drinkwater due to his £100,000-a-week salary.

Norwich and Brighton have previously made inquiries about the 29-year-old but they can’t afford to pay such wages.

Chelsea lashed out £35m to sign the central midfielder from Leicester City in 2017. Unfortunately, Danny has never lived up to expectation. He’s only made 5 appearances for the club since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
