Chelsea are set to make “one big signing” this summer transfer window, a respected journalist has claimed. However, the Blues have already acquired the services of Hakim Ziyech, who should be arriving soon, but there is a feeling that a new striker will be arriving to help out Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud next season.
Abraham is seen as the future of Chelsea while Giroud has recently signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until next summer, which means that a new striker will have to fight for his place.
And it has now been claimed that the ‘one big signing’ that is set to make a move to Chelsea this summer, will push out Michy Batshuayi out of the club, as the Belgian striker has seen his game time very limited, with reports he is not part of the plans over at Chelsea.
Simon Johnson claimed on the SUN: “I was talking to someone the other day, they were suggesting that in all likelihood there’ll be one big signing, and then whatever else comes up, swap deals etc, etc.
“The striker which Frank wants is someone who can hold up the ball and play around him, which is very much a Giroud-type striker and that certainly rules out Batshuayi, who increasingly became a peripheral figure.”
There are a number of players linked with the club and many top strikers that would improve the side, so if reports are true and one big signing is on the way, it will be very interesting to see just who that is and what he will bring to the club.
Having a Giroud-type players means that Chelsea will be preparing for the future, as the Frenchman will be out of contract next summer and will surely not get another contract extension to stay in London.
