Carabao Cup final: Chelsea fans to pay £100m if caught doing this on Sunday

Wembley play host to Chelsea and Liverpool in Sunday’s showpiece event which will have a 90,000 full capacity crowd in attendance.

However, the EFL has warned that the areas surrounding the stadium will be a no-street drinking zone.

It is believed that the measure has been put in place due to the incident that took place at Wembley for England’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy last summer.

An estimated 250,000 fans were outside the stadium before kick-off and up to hundreds of supporters took down barricades and stormed past security to enter the stadium without tickets.

UEFA subsequently punished English football’s governing body, the Football Association, with a two-game stadium ban and a fine of £84,560.

As per Sunday’s game, Chelsea and Liverpool fans have been warned they face a £100 fine if caught drinking alcohol outside Wembley.

An EFL statement read: “Supporters attending Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final at Wembley are being advised that a no street-drinking zone on Olympic Way and surrounding areas will be in operation ahead of the match.

“There will still be a wide range of bars, pubs, fan zones and restaurants available to enjoy in Brent before the game – you can find further details here.

“The ban on street drinking in public will be enforced by a team of officers from Brent Council, Wembley National Stadium, Wembley Park, The Metropolitan Police Service, Transport for London and the British Transport Police with fans being required to hand over their alcoholic drinks or face a £100 fine.

“The Carabao Cup Final, featuring Liverpool and Chelsea, is expected to be played in front of nearly 90,000 spectators, which will be the first time in two years Wembley Stadium has welcomed a full capacity crowd.”
