Cesc Fabregas has announced that his 95-year-old great-grandmother has won her battle against the coronavirus.
“She has overcome coronavirus at 95 years of age,” the former Chelsea midfielder tweeted. “Yesterday the test came out negative!
“My great-grandmother is a superheroine but none of this would have been possible had it not been for the help of the nurses and doctors who are giving their lives at each moment so that we can all be better and live a little bit better during these difficult times.
“Thank you to all the people at Remei de Arenys de Munt for the great sacrifice they make for the elderly. All our respect!!! Nothing is impossible. Thank you!!!”
Fabregas himself might be considered a superhero as well. The 32-year-old has alone decided to take a significant pay cut to help Monaco deal with the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Spaniard has offered the club to have his wages deferred in full for the next 4 months to make up for 30 per cent pay cuts of the training ground staff.
Cesc, who has still more than two years left on his £130,000-a-week contract, will save The Monegasques at least £2m on his own.
