Chelsea aim for £54M player as Thiago Silva replacement at the club
Thiago Silva signed in a free transfer for Chelsea this season. The highly experienced defender made the switch to the Premier League after his contract with the French club ran out.
Chelsea eye Cagliari star as Thiago Silva replacement
According to reports Chelsea are highly interested in signing up Cagliari defender Sebastian Walukiewicz. The defender is currently hot property in Europe and is attracting interest from big clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan.
Although Chelsea currently have Thiago Silva in their centre back position, they must also look at a long term solution for their defensive frailties as well. Silva is ageing and they need a young, dynamic defender.
However one more thing that Chelsea have to keep in mind is that Thiago Silva is a leader. Thereby they need to find a player who’ll be willing to lead from the front for the team.
According to reports in Italy from Corriere Dello Sport via the Mirror, Chelsea are very much interested in hiring Sebastian Walukiewicz’s services. Recently he signed a new contract with Cagliari which takes his price at an estimated £54 million.
Moreover, Thiago Silva is also rumored to be returning to South America to join Fluminense. Fluminense coach Marco has expressed his intention of bringing back Thiago Silva to Brazil.
Also, Marco played with Thiago Silva at Fluminense after which Thiago Silva went on to join AC Milan in 2009. He’s extremely keen to reunite with Silva who’s also interested in assisting his former teammate.
It’s extremely important for Chelsea to find a suitable replacement for Thiago Silva. The club lacks a genuine world-class defender at the moment. They should invest in a player which can solve their problems at the back.
