Chelsea and Madrid agree Spanish deal, Lampard praised for key transfer deal, Chelsea looking to wrap up £100m deal in Chelsea247 roundup.
Chelsea forgotten man Marcos Alonso is reportedly set to join Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.
We are just a few days away from the opening of the January transfer window and there is alot of speculation in the media that the board will hand Lampard some funds in order to sign a few players that will finish off his spending.
However, Chelsea have a massive squad and will need to offload a few players well before we are able to bring some players into the squad, meaning that stars like Alonso are no longer needed at the club.
And according to recent reports on the Independent, The Blues were now in talks with Madrid to try and get a transfer deal done for the left-back.
The Spanish giants are looking to bring the 30-year-old in on an initial loan deal as Diego Simeone seeks to bolster his defensive ranks for the second half of the season.
And the reports says Chelsea are ready to sanction Alonso’s departure, with Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri currently ahead of the Spaniard in the squad pecking order
Now reports have emerged which have suggested A fresh start in the Spanish capital awaits Alonso with a deal now struck between the two clubs, who will likely be at home in Simeone’s five-at-the-back system, which could free Yannick Carrasco to cover on the opposite flank for Trippier.
Fresh reports have claimed that Chelsea are apparently eyeing a shock deal for Jadon Sancho.
We all know that Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United over the summer transfer window as the Red Devils firmly believed that they could convince the Englishman to make the move to Old Trafford.
But despite all the rumours, despite all that speculation and despite claims that personal terms had been agreed between the two clubs, Dortmund opted not to sell one of the clubs best players, and he stayed put.
He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford again over the past few months, but it now seems that Chelsea are back in the hunt to try and get the very exciting lad all signed up in the coming windows. The Que Golazo podcast via Football.London claims the Blues are closely monitoring his situation at Dortmund, especially as the likes of Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are not having the best of starts to the new Premier League season.
Frank Lampard spent some serious money in the transfer window improving this squad, but he is not picking up the results that he needs, meaning that he is eyeing up possible signings that will help improve his situation.
However, the reports also state that Chelsea may not make a move for Sancho until the end of the season as they are only lining up a transfer move for Declan Rice, who is the clubs number one transfer target, and the player that Lampard wants the most.
Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland will not be leaving in the January window, amid interest from Chelsea.
Despite spending some serious money improving the attack over the summer transfer window, Frank Lampard is still reportedly looking to bolster an attack that has failed to impress like many had hoped this season.
Dortmund won the race to sign Haaland from Salzburg last January and he has made a stellar start to his career at Signal Iduna Park, scoring 33 goals in 32 games in all competitions for the club.
However, there has been alot of speculation in the media that Chelsea are one of a number of clubs that believe Haaland would be the dream signing to make, despite the fact that they already have Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham. Rumours have surfaced suggesting the Blues will try and sign the star striker in January but that is extremely unlikely, as reports have suggested that Dortmund would almost definitely never agree to let such an important player leave in the middle of the season
And the report also claims club director Marina Granovskaia is keen on only one transfer in the January transfer window with Declan Rice posing as a priority. However, the summer could be a different story, as German legend Lothar Matthaus claims his stay at Dortmund is fated to be a short one.
“Erling Haaland is a win not just for Dortmund but for the entire Bundesliga,” Matthaus explained to the Bundesliga’s official website. “At the age of 20, he is a machine. He is a flying striker. He brings a positive energy in the team while also scoring goals. He is irreplaceable.
“Erling Haaland is regarded at Dortmund like Robert Lewandowski is at Bayern: the player up front who is not only responsible for the goals but in charge of dragging the team with him. He is a leader at the age of 20.
“That says a lot and on top of that, he knows what he needs to do. He works defensively as well, something I really enjoy seeing Robert Lewandowski do as well. He is not one to just stay forward. His mannerisms as well, for a 20-year-old, to not only think of himself but of his team.
“This positivity that he radiates, radiates on the team which is why I think that someday, Haaland will not be playing at Dortmund anymore and will make the next step. He is already ready and we are proud to have him in the Bundesliga.
“Dortmund need to be pleased to have gotten him because he is a striker that fits to a club with such emotions.”
Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has praised Frank Lampard for his decision to sign Thiago Silva for Chelsea.
It was no secret in the media that Chelsea needed to spend some money in the summer transfer window and add players to the squad that would add some excitement, goals and experience to the squad.
They signed Edouard Mendy, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech to name just a few, but their most important signing may have been the quality Silva, who has come in to add that leadership to the squad that Frank Lampard has been missing.
And Khedira has praised Lampard for recognising that he needed an experienced player to complement the signings of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, in an interview with The Athletic, Khedira suggested that a balanced squad was just as important as a manager’s formation and approach to a game. Asked if he believes tactics are overrated, Khedira replied: ‘Yes, in as much as that strong tactics are a given at these type of clubs anyway
‘The difference is made by coaches who get full buy-in by their players and who have a sense of what’s needed beyond formations etc on the pitch. ‘Take Frank Lampard. In Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, he’s brought in two outstanding footballers but the key signing is Thiago Silva at the age of 36.
‘Lampard knows that it’s not enough to have players who run fast and shoot hard. ‘You also need guys with experience that help others perform by force of their presence and personality. ‘A good manager sees the bigger picture and understands what pieces are missing to complete the puzzle.’
