Lampard told to sign Heskey-like striker, Kovacic sends out Havertz message and £100m move to be made?

According to Tony Cascarino, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard needs to sign his very own Emile Heskey in order to help his underperforming squad.

Following a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, we embarked on a 14-game unbeaten run in all competitions which propelled them to the top of the table, But they’ve struggled to maintain that form over the past few weeks with only one win in their previous five matches.

Timo Werner was signed by the Blues during the summer transfer window, and big things have been expected of the young German, who has had an inconsistent start to his life at Stamford Bridge in the opening weeks of the new season.

Cascarino likens Werner to Michael Owen during his days at Liverpool, but believes we need to sign someone like Heskey in order to help Werner find some form: “It’s a tricky one, because I’ve seen a lot of Werner and when he was at Leipzig he played alongside Poulsen who is a big centre-forward, and he played off the left of him and thrived,” he told TalkSport

“It’s a bit like Michael Owen; Michael Owen without Emile Heskey was never going to be the same player. “Michael was blisteringly quick but had not the greatest of touches, but he always fired goals when he had a big lad beside him to take the pressure off him.

“Werner is exactly the same to me; he is blisteringly quick, his touch is not exceptional, he’s technically not bad but not great he can’t play centre-forward on his own. “He just can’t, because he can’t lead a line or bring players into play. He has to play off the left side of someone.

“The surprising thing for me on the substitution was when Giroud came off [against Villa], you have to put Tammy Abraham on if you are going to put Werner on, because he has to play off the left side.

“The problem Frank has is that [Christian] Pulisic was probably Chelsea’s most dangerous forward and he looked very lively and always wanted to get on the left. Pulisic is a better left-sided player than Werner in the way Chelsea play. “It’s one of Frank’s biggest challenges he has got over the next few games.”

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has “huge potential” according to Mateo Kovacic, who insists he has “no fear” for the “elegant” midfielder

Regarded as one of the finest talents in world football right now, we had to fend off the interest in Bayern Munich over the summer transfer window in order to secure a transfer deal for the brilliantly gifted young man.

However, since his move to the Premier League, Havertz has been constantly criticised for his performances and levels of consistency, with many British media outlets suggesting that he has been a waste of money so far.

But Kovacic has backed his new team-mate to prove his doubters wrong once he adjusts to the demands of English football: “I like Kai Havertz a lot,” the Croatian midfielder told Chelsea’s official website. “He is such a talented player. He is a great signing for Chelsea. He will be a huge player for Chelsea and for world football, I’m sure of that.

“He has huge potential. He is such an elegant player. He just needs to learn to play in the Premier League, that’s all. It’s a difficult league with a huge tempo, and he will get used to it. Game by game he is getting better so I have no fear for Kai.”

Chelsea are apparently eyeing a shock deal for Jadon Sancho.

We all know that Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United over the summer transfer window as the Red Devils firmly believed that they could convince the Englishman to make the move to Old Trafford.

But despite all the rumours, despite all that speculation and despite claims that personal terms had been agreed between the two clubs, Dortmund opted not to sell one of the clubs best players, and he stayed put.

He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford again over the past few months, but it now seems that we are back in the hunt to try and get the very exciting lad all signed up in the coming windows. The Que Golazo podcast via Football.London claims the Blues are closely monitoring his situation at Dortmund, especially as the likes of Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are not having the best of starts to the new Premier League season.

Frank Lampard spent some serious money in the transfer window improving this squad, but he is not picking up the results that he needs, meaning that he is eyeing up possible signings that will help improve his situation.

However, the reports also state that wemay not make a move for Sancho until the end of the season as they are only lining up a transfer move for Declan Rice, who is the clubs number one transfer target, and the player that Lampard wants the most.

Sancho is a brilliant player that we would have loved to see arrive at the club in the summer, but considering we have enough brilliant wingers at the club, the boss needs to start making moves for players in other areas of the pitch. If Pulisic, Havertz or Ziyech leave, then we need him, but right now, we dont
