Chelsea target Declan Rice is the star name up for grabs as West Ham prepare for a massive squad overhaul, according to reports.
The whole world may be gripped by the crazy outbreak of the coronavirus, and football may have been stopped because of the Virus itself, but there has still been alot of transfer speculation in the media about possible summer signings at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard is not fool, he knows that he needs to seriously improve this CHELSEA side over the next few transfer windows in order to get the club from top four chasers, to Premier League contenders, and he needs to add some fresh meat to the side.
Reports claims Lampard is on the hunt for a defensive midfielder this summer and has identified Rice as the ideal man to come in and possibly take over from Ngolo Kante in the long-run, who is arguably the best holding midfielder in the game.
Now Club insiders say ‘nobody is safe’ from the cull which will be triggered partly by cash flow issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic but also because boss David Moyes wants to reshape the squad for the long term. And although Moyes would rather keep £70million-rated Rice, Chelsea are keen to re-sign the prospect they let go at 15, according to the Daily Express website.
Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the England holding midfielder, 21, who has become a key player for the Hammers, but Chelsea are reportedly ready to stump up that big money to secure a transfer deal.
Lampard knows that he is building a very exciting side that could challenge for that Premier League title, and Rice is just the type of player that he can develop and turn into a world class player that will eventually take over from Kante.
