Chelsea condemn racial abuse of Kurt Zouma in official club statement

Chelsea have issued a statement on the club’s official website following alleged racial abuse of centre-back Kurt Zouma on social media yesterday afternoon.

Zouma conceded an own goal which saw Chelsea throw away a two goal lead and draw with Sheffield United, but the Frenchman could not be blamed for the manner in which it was conceded.

These things happen and Zouma scored the own goal while attempting to rectify a mistake from his teammate on the right side of defence. Yet, the ignorants cannot be convinced of that.

Instead, there were reports of racial abuse towards Zouma following the game, which Chelsea have been forced to comment on. They released the below statement on the club’s official website.

“The continued racial abuse of players on social media is totally unacceptable and we condemn it in the strongest terms.

The club is disgusted with posts on social media this evening targeting Kurt Zouma, and join others in the football community in asking social media companies to take action against these individuals.

Chelsea FC finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour abhorrent. Racism has no place at this club and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them.”

It makes us sick that these attention seeking idiots are being given the air time that they so dearly crave, but we have to acknowledge that it is necessary if we wish to stamp this out for good.
