Chelsea confirm Premier league squad for top four race – includng three surprise names

Chelsea are trying to finish in the Champions League places and made no new signings in January.

Chelsea have named their squad for the rest of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, with three surprise names in the list.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Davide Zappacosta and Kenedy are all on the list, but they won’t be playing any action for the Blues this season.

All three players are out on loan until the end of the season, with Bakayoko at Monaco, Zappacosta recovering from injury while at Roma and Kenedy playing for Getafe.

Of course, with no new signings in January it means that the Blues have the exact same squad to play with over the course of the campaign. For Frank Lampard, that will come as a bit of a frustration as he claimed that they are now the ‘underdogs’ in the race for the Premier League’s top four.

Manchester United added Bruno Fernandes to their ranks, while Spurs brought in Steven Bergwijn from PSV, with the Dutch international netting in his debut for Tottenham. Lampard will be hoping that his young players do not have too much burnout for the rest of the campaign, and that they can still hold on to a top four spot.
