Chelsea could let Reece James go to Real Madrid, but in exchange for another £50m player: swap accepted by Florentino

One of the main objectives for Real Madrid is undoubtedly Chelsea captain Reece James, who is one of the best players in his position and has been on the Whites’ wishlist for some time.

For Florentino Pérez, it seems that one of the club’s main goals is to strengthen this important position, which has gained a lot of points after Carvajal’s great start to the season.

The main problem with this operation is the player’s cost, as he has a fairly long contract with Chelsea, but the London club could be interested in a Real Madrid player and make an unexpected swap for the Whites.

The swap would apparently involve the arrival of the Chelsea right-back at Real Madrid in exchange for Ferland Mendy, the Whites’ starting left-back, who seems to be one of the options for the club to leave next summer.

This operation seems to be a bargain for Real Madrid, which needs to make a radical change in its full-backs, and Mendy’s departure was one of the decisions planned for Florentino Pérez for the summer of 2024, so this swap would be a great operation overall.

The Real Madrid president has already given the green light for this operation to take place, which would be more than beneficial for the Whites by giving a way out to a player who was no longer in the team and, at the same time, bringing in a top-level reinforcement.

Just the paperwork left

In practice, they would only be waiting for the respective transfer period to be able to carry out this swap, as for Madrid it is an option more than optimal and they do not want to miss this opportunity under any circumstances.
