Chelsea could take advantage of contract situation to land AC Milan stopper

Chelsea have asked entourage Mino Raiola to keep them updated on the situation of AC Milan shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose contract at the club is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 21-year-old Italian already boasts well over 200 senior matches and is a regular in the Italy national team, and the Rossoneri are desperate to reach an agreement over a new contract in order to avoid losing their star for nothing.

With an agreement yet to be reached, teams around Europe are keeping tabs on the situation, and sources have confirmed to 90min that the Blues have asked Raiola to keep them in the loop if he is unable to agree on fresh terms.

They are not his only suitors, with long-term admirers Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain both keen to move for Donnarumma.

All three are content with their current goalkeepers, but they see the chance to land a player of the Italian’s age and experience for nothing as too good to ignore.

The Blues specifically have been much improved defensively since the introduction of Edouard Mendy this campaign.

However, the long-term future of the world’s most expensive shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga remains unclear, while backups Petr Cech and Willy Caballero are approaching 40.

Raiola is currently locked in negotiations with Milan to try and grant Gianluigi’s wish of staying at the club, but the Rossoneri are struggling to meet the representative’s demands of close to £200,000-a-week.

Raiola knows his client could earn even more if he moves overseas, but he is giving the Serie A giants the chance to get a deal done before offering Donnarumma elsewhere.
