Chelsea defender urged to leave club this summer

Chelsea full-back Emerson has been tipped to depart from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, amid reports claiming that Juventus and Inter Milan are interested.

And former Manchester City head-coach Roberton Mancini has urged Emerson Palmieri to leave the club. Emerson has fallen out of favour in the recent months after a decent start to the current campaign.

Frank Lampard put the Serie A giants into his team for the opening month of the campaign as the Blues made a strong start to the season. However, after suffering a hamstring injury, his campaign took a turn for the worse, and he has struggled to make a return to the starting lineup.

Before the coronavirus pandemic suspended the Premier League current campaign, Emerson had missed out on the team’s last five Premier League games. He faces two challenges ahead of him if he stays at Stamford Bridge, too.

The first is that Marcos Alonso who has been ahead of him and Secondly, Lampard has found success playing three defenders at the backline.

And if Mancini has anything to say about it, he urged 25-year-old defender that he believes Emerson would be the ideal player to make Serie A move.

“As for the full-backs, we knew Adam Masina, although he disappeared from the radar a bit after his move to Watford,” he said. “Luca Pellegrini already spent time with the senior squad and can improve.

“It would be nice if Emerson Palmieri, who hasn’t played much for Chelsea, could come and play in Italy.”
