Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham this week has made Lampard to be more serious in signing a centre back.
However, Frank Lampard himself has even spoken about the lack of height in his squad and the need to address this in the summer via The Telegraph yesterday.
But it was clear to see that they lack that dominant defender with real aerial ability to attack crosses and organised the back line.
So it is not surprising to see Chelsea ‘enter the race’ to sign 6ft 3in centre back Pau Torres from Villarreal.
According to The Daily Mail, who claims that Chelsea have joined a number of top European sides in pursuing the 23-year old Spanish international.
They name Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City as being the clubs Chelsea will have to battle with if they are to sign the defender.
Torres has a £45 million release clause in his contract that has three years left.
