Chelsea face serious battle to buy captain of top European club

AC Milan may have fallen on hard times recently, but there’s no denying that they are one of Europe’s great clubs.

Their decline since the Carlo Ancelotti Champions League winning years has been marked, but wearing that shirt is still an honour, and they still have a huge attraction for others around Europe.

That’s why it will be so difficult for Chelsea to steal away their players, especially one who has been given the captain’s armband. Alessio Romagnoli is one of only a handful of Rossoneri who have managed to stick around through years of flux in the squad, and the now 25 year old has been linked with the Blues on CalcioMercato today.

He would certainly instantly provide the experienced central defender option we’ve been looking for. But would he come? It seems a stretch given the honoured position he has where he is.

Yes we could offer him more money and the chance to play in the Premier League, but being a long-serving captain at one of your home country’s top teams is a big deal, and he won’t turn give it up easily.
