Chelsea fans noticed what Kepa Arrizabalaga did in training ahead of Bournemouth trip

Chelsea news take a behind the scenes look at Friday’s training session at Cobham with the Blues preparing to face Bournemouth in the Premier League

It’s been a tough few weeks for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Dropped from the starting line up by head coach Frank Lampard, the Spaniard has had to watch on from the sidelines as Willy Caballero started consecutive games against Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich.

The Blues are back in Premier League action this afternoon and some fans are calling for Kepa’s return against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Ahead of the game, Kepa has shown signs of him returning to form.

On Friday the Spain international was put through his paces alongside the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger, Mason Mount and Marcos Alonso at the club’s training base in Cobham.

Earlier in the week Kepa could only stand and watch as Willian chipped an effort over his head and into the back of the net.

But that wasn’t to be the case a few days later.

As spotted in a behind the scenes of Chelsea’s training session video uploaded to the club’s YouTube page, at around the 4.37 minute mark he makes a superb one-handed stop.

The strike is destined for the top corner, but Kepa gets his finger-tips to it and diverts the ball onto the crossbar in a save which should do the world of good for his confidence.

Furthermore, a few Chelsea fans noticed the save and were quick to heap praise on Kepa.

One supporter said: “So we all going to ignore that save at 4:37?”, another commented by saying: “Nice to see kepa training decent.”

One fan has a theory that Kepa will start against the Cherries: “Looks like a Kepa might be starting this game. A lot of the clips were of him and Caballero was helping out with the training rather than being trained. Kepa was always in the goal.”

Kepa’s high performance levels in training is unlikely to come as a surprise to Lampard as he revealed there’s no issue between the pair amid talk of cashing in on the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.
