Chelsea fans would love why Rudiger rejected Tottenham transfer despite positive talks with Jose Mourinho

According to several reports, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger held talks with Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho on transfer deadline day but opted against joining our London rivals despite positive talks with Mourinho.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea were willing to let Rudiger leave on loan but the defender opted against joining Tottenham amid concerns there will be a backlash from Chelsea fans.

Rudiger has fallen down the pecking order under Blues manager Frank Lampard but he ultimately decided to stay and fight for his place.

Rudiger had also attracted interest from AC Milan, Roma and Barcelona but financial issues hampered those deals.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel was interested in Rudiger and wanted to bring him to the Ligue 1 champions but no deal was struck.

Chelsea then tried to ship out Fikayo Tomori on loan after learning Rudiger would be staying at the club.

However, with a loan move to West Ham all but wrapped up Tomori decided to pull out of the deal and fight for a place at Chelsea.
