Chelsea found perfect replacement for Giroud, and he is in fine form
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has had very limited game time this season, and has now found himself behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.
Giroud has made just one start under Lampard this season, which came in September’s Carabao Cup defeat against Tottenham.
There have been talks of a likely exit for the 34-year-old striker in the January transfer, as he seems unhappy with his lack of playing time, which may affect his Euro 2021 chances with the France squad.
Meanwhile, a Chelsea fan has urged Lampard to rather promote youngster Armando Broja to the first team if Giroud decides to leave in January.
A Blues fan with the handle @Blue_Footy tweeted: “With Olivier Giroud set to leave Chelsea, I want to see this guy in the first team next season. “We don’t need to buy a striker, we already have ARMANDO BROJA.”
The 19-year-old striker who’s currently on loan with Vitesse, us performing well, with four goals in eight Eredivisie games so far this season.
Broja was handed his Chelsea debut in the home Premier League fixture against Everton in March 2020 replacing Olivier Giroud as an 86th-minute substitute.
