Chelsea legend calls on club to sign 80m playmaker who could be next Chelsea David Silva

Former Chelsea star Alan Hudson believes the Blues should get involved in the race to sign Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish when the transfer window reopens.

The 25-year-old has been excelling for club and country, and Hudson thinks the playmaker could have the same impact as David Silva had during his ten years at Manchester City:

“If I were Frank I’d break the bank for Jack Grealish and have a Kante/Grealish and Pulisic midfield. That midfield area will always be the key to the team’s progress … Look at Manchester City since they lost the best: David Silva.”

The likes of City and Manchester United are reportedly big fans of Grealish but it has been reported that Villa would demand between £70m and £80m to sell the England international.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is unlikely to be interested in signing another attacking midfielder after snapping up the likes of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech over the summer.

While Grealish is undoubtedly a massive talent, it is thought that the Blues’ focus for the January transfer window will be West Ham’s Declan Rice, who is actually valued at a similar price to his England teammate.
