Chelsea might have gifted Arsenal with another Mesut Ozil situation
Chelsea, refused to grant the demands of Brazilian International Willian and decided to let him go for Arsenal to pick. The 32-year-old now has a three year deal with the Gunners and due to be paid over £100 million.
His performance in recent games have got fans talking as he has not directly contributed to any goal in the last five Premier League games. Willian handed two assist in Arsenal’s season opener against Fulham but since then, the Gunners fans have been begging for a related performance.
The fact that Willian seem to be living in his shadows at the early days of his spell at Arsenal and knowing that he would be at the club until he turns 35 is something to be bothered about.
More so, Chelsea fans seem happy with the departure of the Brazilian from Stamford Bridge. That could be a message that he could just be a financial burden to the club like German outcast.
We will not forget that Mesut Ozil is Arsenal’s highest paid player but he has not kicked the ball since last season, talk more of contributing to the team.
He has also refused to leave the club despite receiving interests from several suitors abroad.
However, the only difference between Willian and Mesut Ozil is the fact that the Brazilian International might not insist on staying at the club if he is told to leave before the end if his contract with the North London outfit.
However, Willian is assured of a starting role in Mikel Arteta’s team ahead of Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe. The Spanish boss has not also hidden this fact but has continued to stress it to the former Lille winger as a warning.
Mikel Arteta told Nicolas Pepe that the only way he can play ahead of the Brazilian is to be more consistent in his delivery if good performance. The former Lille man have been finding the back of the net in the Europa League but the former Man City assistant manager wants him to score more in the Premier League.
