Chelsea players afraid as another ‘key Chelsea man’ could leave club after Rudiger exit

Following UK government sanctions on Chelsea, The Blues are now set to lose Antonio Rudiger for free at the end of the season, as the club was unable to reach an agreement with the German before the close of the campaign.

However, Andreas Christensen is also set to leave at the end of the season, while veteran defenders Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta were only tied down because of certain clauses in their contracts.

Thomas Tuchel had claimed the sanctions left the club with their ‘hands tied’ with regards to Antonio Rudiger, and a report by The Times now claim that the Chelsea dressing room feels sanctions could continue to harm the club both in terms of incomings and outgoings until the takeover process is complete.

With uncertainty around the players, the report adds that members of the Chelsea squad feel it could push the Chelsea manager towards the Stamford Bridge exit if things aren’t sorted out on time.

Tuchel was pained with the loss of Rudiger as he said: “It will be incredibly difficult because Toni is a big personality, a big leader and he takes fear away from other people.

“We will miss him a lot. It will be challenging but, no matter how much I love Toni and how big a role he has played, there will be life at Chelsea without Toni Rudiger. We will find solutions.”
