Chelsea prepare to resume training but seven players self-isolating

In anticipation of a return to Premier League action, Chelsea now have asked players back to Cobham under strict safety measures and opened the ground as they look to bolster fitness levels following the coronavirus crisis.

The players who have returned recently from other countries, however, have had to be self-isolated for 14 days before joining the training.

Some players such as Willian, Pedro, Christian Pulisic, Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andreas Christensen have to self-isolate themselves for 14 days though under Government rules after returning from abroad last weekend.

As of now, Chelsea would only issue hourly slots for players that live near the training ground to come and use the facilities under strict social distancing guidelines. Lampard and his coaching team will not be present at Cobham but a team of medical staff will control guidelines from a distance.

Lampard instead will continue remaining in touch with his squad via video conferencing, which has been practised for the team to manage group training sessions during the suspension.

Other big sides like Arsenal and Tottenham have already started conduct training albeit under strict guidelines. Manchester United too reportedly has asked all their players to return to Manchester so that they can start planning gradually for the return.

The Premier League is set for talks about Project Restart possibly on Monday. There are hopes that the season can return next month with nine league games remaining for the majority of teams.
