Chelsea ready bid to beat rivals to exciting forward transfer with approval of club legend

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a £20million bid to beat Tottenham to the transfer of Aston Villa forward Jack Grealish after he impressed Blues legend John Terry last season.

The pair were team-mates at Villa Park as Terry spent one season with the Championship club, and there’s no doubt Grealish was one of the team’s most impressive performers as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

Chelsea could do with an attacking player of Grealish’s quality, with the 22-year-old undoubtedly set for a big future at Premier League level and perhaps capable of playing for one of the big six.

As noted by the Sun, Tottenham have also been targeting the England Under-21 international, but Chelsea now hope that a £20m bid could see them pip their rivals to his signature before the end of the summer, and that this deal would have Terry’s approval.

Both London giants have had relatively quiet transfer windows so far so could do with a final flourish for a big name like this, with Grealish likely to improve their current options in attack or at the very least provide both managers with more depth and options to choose from in a key area over a long and gruelling campaign.
