Chelsea are keen on massively improving their squad ahead of next season as the London club is targeting more attacking reinforcements even after the move for Timo Werner has been reportedly confirmed.

Chelsea have been firm admirers of highly rated attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho as the Blues have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool attacker. Chelsea are set to rekindle their efforts to sign the Brazilian as a move for Bayern Leverkusen’s Kai Harvetz may prove too expensive for Chelsea.

Frank Lampard is keen on a move for Kai Harvetz as the Chelsea coach looks to add more attacking quality to his squad. But with Bayern Leverkusen requesting a sum of £100m, Chelsea have now turned their attention to 27-year old Coutinho.

Coutinho is considered to be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe but Bayern Munich are stalling to make his loan move permanent and this has given Chelsea a free route to win the race to sign the attacker.

Barcelona have now reduced their asking price for Coutinho to a reported £67m and this is far cheaper than the £100m requested by Bayern Leverkusen for Kai Harvetz.

The signing of Coutinho by Chelsea for £67m will be a massive coup for the Blues as they will be getting a Premier League proven performer for a cut price fee. Coutinho will bring in that attacking quality that has been missing in Chelsea’s play all season.

With the likes of Willian and Pedro heading towards the exit, Coutinho’s arrival coupled with the signing of Ziyech and Werner will mean Chelsea will have one of the best squad come next season. Chelsea are looking to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for trophies, this makes the signing of quality players paramount for Frank Lampard.
