Chelsea ready to use Alonso and Azpilicueta in a swap deal to sign €500m release clause player
Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, both of Chelsea’s defenders, could be on their way out this summer.
Azpilicueta has spent the majority of his career at Chelsea and could be eager for a new challenge, while Alonso isn’t a regular starter when Ben Chilwell is fit.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Alonso and Azpilicueta are garnering Barcelona’s attention, and Chelsea is considering a possible swap trade.
Chelsea have indicated interest in Alejandro Balde, an 18-year-old winger, and might use him as part of a deal to let Alonso and Azpilicueta leave the club.
Chelsea made an attempt to Barcelona in 2020 and again in 2021, but no deal was finalized. Due to Barcelona’s strong interest in two of their players, the London club may have a better chance of securing a deal this time.
Balde is said to have a €500 million release clause, so getting him to Stamford Bridge via a deal with Alonso and Azpilicueta would be the simplest route for them to do so.
