Chelsea set to miss out on £540million deal after Roman Abramovich sanctions

According to reports, Nike are considering walking away from their kit deal with Chelsea.

Following the sanctions on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich by the UK on Thursday, Nike are considering ending their £900million deal with Chelsea which was agreed in 2016 for 15 years.

Chelsea could miss out on £540million if the agreement with Nike is cancelled.

Chelsea shirt sponsor Three have already suspended their sponsorship deal with the club while Hyundai and Zapp are also considering ending their deals with Chelsea.

In a statement on Thursday, Chelsea shirt sponsor Three said: “In light of the government’s recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice.

“We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do.”
