Chelsea set to pay player off to leave club as Blues receives £100m warning deal
The player Ross Barkley’s contract may be terminated by Chelsea, according to reports.
After a strong beginning to his loan stint, Barkley suffered during the 2020-21 season while on loan at Aston Villa.
Last season, Barkley had trouble getting on the field because he only made one Premier League start for Chelsea.
Despite participating in Chelsea’s preseason, Barkley has not been selected for any of the team’s four match-day lineups this year.
The 28-year-old midfielder is not in Tuchel’s season-long plans, and there is currently no interest in Barkley.
However, The Daily Mail has claimed that Chelsea are considering whether to pay off Barkley’s contract before the transfer window closes.
Barkley has scored 12 goals and contributed 11 assists in 100 appearances for Chelsea.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has hailed his young winger Anthony Gordon.
Gordon has attracted massive interest from Chelsea, and the Blues have seen a bid of £40m rejected for the young star.
According to reports, Chelsea are ready to table a bid close to £60m for the Toffees academy product.
Everton boss Frank Lampard has however said that Anthony Gordon is worth £100m.
Frank Lampard said: “I can’t put a number on his value to the club. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with fantastic young players at Derby and Chelsea, seen them develop and become England internationals and Champions League winners, worth triple figures (£100m+) in terms of their personal values.
“Anthony is in that bracket, he’s been a pleasure to work with and he’s ours. He’s an Everton boy, he plays for us and the crowd relate to him.
“It’s understandable that people would be interested in him because of the level of player that he is. The facts remain the same.”
