Chelsea star leaves national team camp and returns to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea right-back Reece James had a good game for the Three Lions as he featured in England’s friendly 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.
Reece James was given a two-match ban by UEFA after getting a red card in the Nations League fixture to Denmark last month.
Subsequently, the 20-year-old will be unavailable to play against Belgium and Iceland, but Gareth Southgate invited him nevertheless. He’d now return to Cobham to resume training.
Reece James was delighted Southgate chose to include him in this squad despite the suspension.
“It is a very good confidence-booster,” he said of that decision. “It shows that he still wanted me here and still believes in me.
“I will take the red card from last time and I will learn from it and move on and hopefully it will have a positive impact in the long run.
“I’m obviously devastated that I can’t play in the next two games but it is a mistake I need to learn from and keep on progressing.”
