Chelsea star sends contract message to Frank Lampard
New Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has sent a contract message to manager Frank Lampard, informing him of his intention to remain with the club for more seasons.
The Brazilian signed just a one-year deal with the West London outfit when he joined in the summer as a free agent from French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain.
Chelsea have the option in the contract to trigger a 12-month extension for the 36-year-old and he has given the hint that he is happy at the club and deserves it after delivering impressive performance.
Thiago Silva has been given the credit alongside Edouard Mendy for helping to stabilize Frank Lampard’s team. Before the duo signed for Chelsea in the summer transfer window, the Blues suffered some painful defeats and conceded goals in almost all games but his presence has helped with five clean-sheets in their last six games.
However, the Brazilian says he is proud to play under Frank Lampard and hopes the club will consider him for a contract extension at the end of the season. Offering him more than a year deal will also be welcomed by the player.
“I am very proud to be coached by someone who has been one of the best midfielders in the world and to have faced him as a player,” the former PSG captain told the reporters about the Chelsea manager (via L’equipe).
“We exchange our ideas in the locker room and that’s a very good thing. He talks to me a lot and I try to help my best, on and off the pitch, in order to keep playing in the best possible way.
“I have learned in [a lot of different competitions] and I use it to help young players,” he added.
“This is my first experience in the Premier League. I hope to continue to play well and that my contract will be renewed.” he said in his press conference for the Brazil national team on Tuesday.
