Chelsea still considering move for highly-rated Ajax defender
Argentine full-back Nicolas Tagliafico will reportedly sign a new contract at Ajax next week, however, will still be free to depart from the Dutch giants at the end of the 2020-21 season.
The 28-year=old defender was heavily linked with a switch away from his current team during the summer transfer window, however, the deadline passed with the South American full-back still in Amsterdam.
According to De Telegraaf, Tagliafico will soon sign a new contract with Ajax, extending his current deal until June 2023 in the process, however, he will be allowed to depart from the club next summer.
The report suggests that an ‘informal agreement’ means that the Argentine full-back will be free to join a ‘top European team’ ahead of the 2021-22 campaign as Ajax look to ensure that they receive the best possible price for the South American.
The 28-year-old defender, who has been rumoured with both Man City and Chelsea, has played 110 games for his Dutch team in all competitions, founding back of the net 12 times and provided 16 assists in the process.
Tagliafico has already featured on 11 occasions for Erik ten Hag’s side this campaign yet to score a goal and made only one assist thus far.
